2020 has been a long and testing year for many reasons – mostly relating to the current pandemic. While it hasn’t been the best year for many of us, it is important to acknowledge the positives and recognise your achievements throughout, whether they are small or large. It’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling sorry for yourself in these times but like i have previously said, take it easy! You made it.
It’s interesting to think just how much of a historical year 2020 has been with a global pandemic, BLM and brexit happening simultaneously, to name a few things. It does feel like the world has changed and we are getting used to a new normal. With that being said we need to remember that movements like Black Lives Matter are long term and cannot just be put down to a period or trend in 2020. While there were miniscule victories, there is still a very long way to go as we all know.
I think I, and many others, learnt a lot this year, not only about world issues, but ourselves. The constant bombardment of what seemed like bad news forced us to confront many issues, learn and become a lot more resilient. It was definitely a year of growth, which I’m actually grateful for.
Looking forward to 2021, what are some things you are hoping to achieve? I have never been one to stick to new years resolutions however this year I am going to make an effort to better myself and make small improvements. I’m also going to be making more of an effort with my blog, so watch this space! Hopefully the coming year is kinder to us but we also have to make the most out of it where we can.
New year, fresh start.
